CREATING A WONDERFULLY WEIRD BRAND
I was approached to come up with the branding for a pre-batched cocktail company. Wanting to differentiate themselves from other pre-batched cocktail companies, I was asked to come up with something that would enable them to stand out from the pack.
I came up with Cloud Cuckoo Island. A floating paradise above the Bermuda Triangle where nothing makes sense, but everything tastes delicious. By doing this, I was able to craft an engaging brand story, along with fun stories about the products and the inhabitants of the island.
A favourite on the Transtemporal Express (Cloud Cuckoo’s time-travelling train) our Espresso Martini is a stiff drink that’ll put a little pep in your step. Made with a base of 24-hour cold drip coffee, we then add vodka, coffee liqueur and a dash of simple syrup. Barrels of the solution are then strapped to flamingos, who do laps of the island for no less than 19 minutes. We're not sure why, but it makes all the difference.
No flamingos were harmed in the making of this cocktail.
Living on nothing but citrus and salt, Margaret is the lady behind our Margarita. Her penchant for sour drinks, sees both her and her parrot Ruby, collect the most spectacular lemons and limes, giving our Margarita a real purse-lipped punch. To make it we start off with Tequila, add some triple-sec, and finish it off with Margaret's citrus juice. Delicious!
Never get Margaret’s limes in your eye.
Claret Cup Sangria
Great wine comes from grapes grown in the driest of conditions. That's why our grapes are grown in the middle of the Cloud Cuckoo desert – surrounded by claret cup cacti. It makes picking them rather arduous, but it's worth it for the flavour.
To avoid being pricked our pickers wear a full suit of armour.
